James Clyde Alford, age 86, of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in Homer, Louisiana. He was born on Sunday, May 28, 1939, in Jonesboro, Louisiana.

Mr. Alford was preceded in death by his father, Virgil L. Alford; his mother, Myrtle Batson Alford; his first wife, LaMaye Jordan Alford; his granddaughter, Brodie Alford; and two brothers and one sister. Mr. James was born and raised in Jonesboro, Louisiana. He attended Hodge United Pentecostal Church as a child and later was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church. He spent his working career of 44 years retiring from the Red River Mill in Campti, Louisiana. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and supporting his LSU Tigers. He was a true practical joker and loved slap stick comedy.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Spangler Alford of Winnfield, LA; his son, Glen Alford and wife Anna; four stepchildren, Joey Jordan and wife Sandy; Angela Dautriel and husband Paul; Amy Davidson and husband Jim; and Lori Norwood and husband Larry. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. A longtime friend and co-worker, Billy Webb Gunner, also holds a special place among those who mourn his passing.

Serving as pallbearers will be Darren O'Bannon, Edd Lee, Darren Fitzgerald, Larry Norwood, David Haley, and Ricky Griffin. Per his request all of his grandsons will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at Southern Funeral Home on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at Southern Funeral Home on Saturday, December 6, 2025, with Rev. Brian McAllister officiating.

Interment will be in the Garden of Memories under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
