Iris F. Wright White Burton

Iris F. Wright White Burton passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026, following a battle with cancer. She was born July 26, 1953, in Olla, Louisiana, to Elbert James Wright and Beulah Hemphill Wright.

Iris was the youngest of four children and remained the "baby" of the family throughout her life. She attended Georgetown High School and later earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Throughout her lifetime, Iris held a variety of jobs, but her greatest love was teaching piano. She had many beloved students over the years, and the relationships she formed with them remained important to her. Iris was also a member of the Wright Family Band and later performed with "A Little Bit of Heaven," a family band that included her sister, one of her daughters, and her nephews.

Iris began playing the piano at church at a very young age and continued playing throughout her lifetime. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she faithfully served the Lord through her music and her life. She will be missed by her church family at Zion Baptist Church.

Iris is survived by her husband, Joseph S. Burton III; two daughters, Jessica Brandonburg and husband Michael, and Krista Brandonburg and husband Josh; grandchildren, Conner, Blake, Caitlyn, Evy, Christina, and Logan ; sister, Martha Mitchell and husband Earl; brother, Don Wright and wife Teri; and sister-in-law, Martha Wright. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Beulah Wright; her husband, Leroy White Jr.; and her brother, Gary Wright.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Zion Baptist Church in Georgetown, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield.

Pallbearers Brent Smith, Bradley Smith, Jamie Wright, Brandon Bannon, Michael Brandonburg, and Paul Lambright.

Honorary pallbearers Blake Brandonburg, Conner Brandonburg, Logan Brandonburg, Chuck Finnegan, Casey Wright, and Bain Bannon.
