Irene Austin Creasy, aged 94, of Winnfield, LA, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, in Jonesboro, LA. Born on February 18, 1930, in Lynchburg, VA, Irene lived a life full of adventure, faith, and love.

Irene was the eldest of six children born to James Gus Austin and Ethel Tolley Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband, Franklin Russell Creasy, Sr.; her son, Franklin Russell Creasy, Jr.; her brothers, Admiral Dewey "Red" Austin, Joseph Thomas Austin, and James Edward Austin; and her sister, Patricia Austin Pauley.

As an Army wife, Irene traveled the world with her husband and three children. She managed post exchanges at numerous bases where her husband was stationed. When she wasn't tending to her family, whom she loved dearly, Irene enjoyed reading and crocheting. Raised in the Methodist faith, she later attended the First Assembly of God in Winnfield.

Irene is survived by her daughters, Donna Cotton (Richard) and Sandra Creasy McCauley (Mike); her grandchildren, Richard Cotton, IV, Shonney Cotton, John Clay Johnson, Deborah Johnson, Theresa Falke, and James Johnson; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Marie Ramsey. She is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a public visitation at Southern Funeral Home on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Tommy Sanson. Irene will be laid to rest at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ferguson-Dennis Cemetery in Leesville, next to her son and husband.
