Huey D.
Caskey, Sr
Dec 9, 1932 — May 9, 2025
Brewton’s Mill
Huey D. Caskey, Sr, 92 years and 5 months of age, went to be with his Lord on May 9, 2025 in his home in Brewton's Mill, Louisiana surrounded by his wife and children.
Huey was born on December 9, 1932, to Henry and Fannie Kirkham Caskey in the Cypress Creek Community. As the fourth of nine children, he grew up surrounded by siblings he loved dearly—a bond that remained strong throughout his life.
Huey is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ann Rowe Caskey; son, Delton (Susie) Caskey; son, Jeff (Christina) Caskey; son, Greg (Sherrie) Caskey; daughter, Lori (Kenny) Smith; brother, Dewain (Margie) Caskey; sister, Dianne (Chris) Barnett; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Huey was married to the love of his life, Ruth, for 67 wonderful years. Together, they built a strong and loving family, grounded in faith. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his sons, cherished his "baby girl" with a deep and tender love; but above all was his love and devotion to Ruth.
Psalm 127:4 says, "Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth." This verse rang true for Huey and Ruth as they raised their children and watched them grow into hardworking individuals with families of their own. Huey's grandchildren will attest that nothing made them feel more loved than the grin "Papaw Huey" had when they arrived for a visit. His devotion to his family was evident in his unwavering love for them all.
He was a long time deacon of Mill Creek Baptist Church. He was dedicated to serving the Lord through serving others. Until his final days, his greatest wish was to bring others to know and love his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Huey was a sailor in the United States Navy from the year 1952 until being honorably discharged in 1956. He always had a deep love and devotion for his country.
He was a 67-year member of Pipeliners Local 798. He spent much of his life traveling across the country as a welder, first with his brothers and later with his sons. Huey believed in the rewards of an honest days work.
Huey was also a member of the Calvin Masonic Lodge #431 a Past Master and a 32nd Degree member of the Scottish Rite.
He was a devoted cattleman and outdoorsman - a love he instilled in all three of his boys. His favorite place on earth was in his pasture, checking on his cows and taking in the land he loved and worked.
Huey is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Anthony Caskey; great granddaughter, Emma Claire Gill; brothers, H. L. Caskey, Jr, Robert Caskey, Cecil Caskey; sisters, Corrine Jordan, Margret Anderson and Sue Kelley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at the Antioch Community Church, Brewton's Mill, Louisiana, with Rev. Dick Debusk officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
Friends may visit with the family at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until time of services.
Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons; Dustin Caskey, Andrew Caskey, Ryan Gill, Nathan Basco, Keith Caskey, Gavin Caskey, Caleb Vines, and Michael Smith.
