Gwendolyn Dale Porter Jordan was born September 16, 1933 in Winnfield, Louisiana to John Horace and Lottie Wilson Porter.

She passed peacefully with her loving husband of 70 years, James Austin Jordan, by her side on Friday, March 11, 2022 after a lengthy illness.

During her life, she was active in 4H, Sorosis Club, and Homemakers of Oil City, Louisiana. Gwendolyn bowled on numerous bowling teams in Shreveport, and was a member of quilting clubs. Gwendolyn was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star 61 years, serving in Sunset Chapter, Vespers Chapter, and Blanchard Chapter.

Gwendolyn married the love of her life and they had three children Becky, Mark, and Jan. She was born and raised in WInnfield and moved to Shreveport after her husband got out of the Navy and made their home there. Later, they moved to Oil City and have lived their for the last 44 years. She was a stay at home mom until her children were all in school, she then went back to school and earned a degree in bookkeeping. She worked as a bookkeeper for Independent Ice and Cold Storage. When they moved to Oil City she worked for Hammers Services.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her parents Horace and Lottie Wilson Porter, her sisters Billie Anne LaCaze and Murlejean Hemphill. She is survived by her husband James Jordan, son Mark Jordan (Janie), daughters Jan Moore (Chester), and Becky McLaurin (Mike), along with six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2022 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike McLaurin officiating. Interment will follow in the Jordan Hill Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services.

Pallbearers will be Mark Jordan, Chester Moore, James Moore, Glen Alford, Bodene Alford and James Jordan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Moore, Matt McLaurin, Davis Dorriety, Ashton Futrell and Michael McLaurin.

The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.

The Jordan family would like to extend a special and heartfelt Thank You to Hand in Hand Hospice of Minden for their loving care of our Mother!
