Gerald Eugene Weeks was born in Winnfield, LA on Thursday, November 16, 1944, and passed from this life on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 78 years of age.

Eugene patterned his life after God's design, God first, then family and self last. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Eugene was raised on hard work from an early age, with his father and brothers carving out a living in the logging industry. He later transitioned his career to the United States Postal Service where he retired with over 40 years of service. Eugene was a member of the Goldonna Masonic Lodge No. 293 F&AM for over 55 years. He was an avid gardener and steward of the land. He understood planting, harvesting, and reforestation. He loved watching things grow. If you ever passed his home, you most likely saw him there working in his garden or surveying the land. Eugene's love for the outdoors carried over into his passion for hunting and fishing, as he shared this joy with his family and friends.

Eugene's love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was evident. If you were around him any length of time you would be talking scripture and he would be quoting God's word. He was a deacon for over 50 years. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church where he belonged to a loving church family sharing the love of Jesus Christ. Eugene will be remembered as a special dad to his children. He was blessed to know and love his three granddaughters, Lille Claire, Scarlett Brooke, and Mollie Beth, and they were perfect in his eyes.

Mr. Weeks is preceded in death by his parents, Delton E. and Grace Taylor Weeks, his wife, Willie Nell Broadway Weeks, and his brother, Donald Ray Weeks.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons Ty Waynon Weeks, Stedman Eugene Weeks, daughter Charity Weeks Hatten, and husband Joshua; grandchildren, Lille Claire Hatten, Scarlett Brooke Hatten, and Mollie Beth Hatten, brother, Jerry Weeks and wife Bobbie Sue; sister, Karen Shirley, and husband Kevin, as well many special nieces and nephews and great friends.

Funeral services for Gerald Eugene Weeks will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January, 12. 2023, in the Chapel of Southern Funeral Home, with the Reverends Myron Thompson, Lamar Carpenter, and Larry Carr officiating. Interment will follow at Yankee Springs Cemetery, Goldonna, LA.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield, LA from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
