Georgia Couch Butler, age 93, of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her home in the country—the very place she loved most. She was born on November 10, 1931, in Winnfield to the late Bessie Cox Couch and D.W.. "Will" Couch.

Georgia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 68 years, Willie B. Butler; her cherished parents; her brother, Andrew Couch; and her eldest daughter, Nancy Butler Ricketts.

On November 2, 1951, Georgia married the love of her life, Willie B. Butler. Together, they built their home in Winn Parish where they raised two daughters, Nancy and Sherri. Later in life, she was blessed to help raise three of her granddaughters—an experience that brought her great joy and fulfillment.

She retired from Wal-Mart after 20 years of service as the Department Manager of the Fabric Department. In earlier years, she worked at Stella's Restaurant in Tullos, proudly flipping burgers to pay off her Dodge truck—a point of pride she often spoke of with a smile.

Georgia expressed her love through acts of service, especially through cooking. She delighted in preparing special meals, always remembering each family member's favorite dish. Her peanut butter cake became a treasured tradition for many. She adored lace, anything frilly, and the color pink. A talented crocheter and quilter, she created countless blankets and quilts, each a gift of her hands and heart. She also enjoyed collecting dishes and took great pleasure in serving homemade candies and "party food" on special occasions.

Each morning began on her porch swing with half a cup of Community coffee and quiet prayer for her family. A long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church, Georgia faithfully cleaned the church each week and found joy in serving quietly behind the scenes. Though she was soft-spoken and humble, she possessed a quick wit that could leave you laughing through tears. Her advice—rooted in love, honesty, and practicality—was deeply valued. Her gentle reminder to "just pray about it" became a guiding phrase to those who sought her counsel.

Though small in stature, Georgia leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherri Butler Texeira  and husband Frank of Stockton, California; her son-in-law, Warren Ricketts of Winnfield; and six grandchildren: Kris Ricketts and wife Amy of Shreveport, Windi Brown and husband Keith of Dodson, Lori Spangler and husband Jason of Monroe, Isaac Ricketts and wife Melissa of Pineville, Ashley Ford of Winnfield, and Brittani Molloy and husband John of Dublin, Ireland and son-in-law Warren Ricketts who always looked after her. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Georgia deeply cherished her special friends Monty and Marty Atkins and Donna and Gary Spangler, who shared her love of quiet, faithful service. Their help and kindness never went unnoticed and were always appreciated.

Pallbearers will be Kaleb Brown, Kyle Brown, Shayne Ford, Ian Ricketts, Josh Ricketts, Jay Cooper Spangler, Jude Spangler, and Jackson Spangler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Duane Moreno, Rev. Norris Curry, and her granddaughter Lori Spangler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. No public visitation is scheduled.
