George Herbert Cox, age 68 of Tullos, Louisiana passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana surrounded by his family.

He was born Friday, October 26, 1956 in Winnfield, Louisiana, to the union of Jesse Calvin and Ruby Rachel Midciff Cox. Mr. Herbert served his working years as a skidder  operator in the timber industry. He shared many interests and hobbies, but the greatest of these was his love for deer hunting. He loved the Lord and was a devoted Christian until his health began to fail. He will be a huge miss in the community and by all who had opportunity to meet him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Ruby Cox; daughter, Heather Cox; siblings, David Cox, James Cox, Rachel Wood, Tish Vail, Shirley McGuire, Evie Southall.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife,Thelma Gatlin Cox; son,  Zac Cox (wife Hillary); sister, Darlene Vines; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Southern Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM  and again  on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Southern Funeral Home, from 11:00 AM until time of services.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby McGuire officiating. Interment will follow in Cox-Guin Cemetery, in Winnfield.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Jesse Wilson, Eric Wilson, Hunter Simms, Garrett Berry, Joey McGuire, and Keith Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Hutto and Baxter Dempsey.
