Gary Monroe Hale, age 63, of Russellville Arkansas died Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Stella Manor Nursing Home. He was born November 5, 1959, in Riverside California to Master Sergeant John Roy Hale and Julia Harvelia (Johnson) Hale.
Gary and his mother moved to their ancestral home in Readhimer Louisiana in 1978 after the death of his father. In Readhimer he was surrounded by many loving friends and family members. Gary enjoyed going to the community center and helping deliver meals on wheels. Gary moved to Arkansas in 2000 to live with his brother after the death of his mother. Through his kind and gentle loving ways, he made many friends and acquaintances in Arkansas.
Gary enjoyed laughing and joking with people. He participated in Special Olympics a number of times and won several awards. He loved American flags, parades, marching, and anything military. His favorite TV show was Gomer Pyle USMC. He was also fond of Hogan's Heroes, The Munsters, and Emergency. He loved cars, big rigs, farm equipment, and forestry equipment. He loved the music of the sixties and classical music.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His survivors include his brother, James P. Hale, and wife LaVella Y. Hale of Russellville; his nieces, Amy F. Williams (husband Russell) of Benton Arkansas, and Sheena C. Fielder; grandnieces, Synthia Hale, Melony McMichael, Forsythia Williams, and grand-nephew Gabriel Williams. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family in Russellville and Readhimer.
A burial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 2 pm in Strange United Methodist Church Cemetery in Readhimer. Arrangements are under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro Louisiana.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Young Homes of Friendship Services at 910 N Ithaca Ave, Russellville, AR 72801, or the National Down Syndrome Society, 1155 15 th Street NW, Suite 540, Washington, DC 20005.
