Freddie Rand "Sonny" Smith, age 85 of Jena, Louisiana was received into Heaven on Thursday, January 20, 2022. He was born Friday, October 16, 1936 in Jena, Louisiana, to the union of Willie and Lola Lee (Williams) Smith.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 62 years Aldis (Boyd) Smith, a daughter Monty Carol (Smith) Lanier, and his son William Rand "Billy" Smith,

Those left to love and miss him are his daughter Mary Jo (Smith) Poole & husband Terry of Thibodaux, daughter-in-law Loretta (Neal) Smith of Jena, five (5) granddaughters Danna (Lanier) Walker, Lanie (Lanier) Breithaupt & husband David, Mandi (Lanier) Brooks & husband Brad, Rebecca (Poole) Arabie & husband Dusten, and Emalee Smith, two (2) grandsons Wade Poole & wife Melissa, and Will Smith & wife Brooke, and fifteen (15) great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at East Jena Baptist, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at East Jena Baptist with Rev. Mike Wilkinson officiating. Private burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery, in Jena, Louisiana, under the directions of Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home.

Those honored to serve the family as pallbearers will be Joe Merle Francis, Howard Tadlock, L. D. Stringer, Kenny Robertson, Mike Enterkin, and Donnie Wayne Smith
