Fred Reeves Flurry, Sr., age 82 of Winnfield, passed away peacefully from Alzheimer's on Monday, June 17, 2024.

Mr. Flurry was preceded in death by Conner Flurry, his high school sweetheart and wife of 45 years; his parents, Rev. Fred Samuel and Clarice Reeves Flurry; and his sister, Gloria Flurry Normann.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his beloved companion Babs Legan of Bossier, his children Fred Reeves Flurry, Jr., and wife Rhonda of Natchitoches; Melissa Flurry of Winnfield; Jennifer Frederick and husband Keith of Winnfield; and Allison Lightfoot and husband Joe of Youngsville; his sister, Joan Callaway of Pearland, TX; his grandchildren, Jamieson Frederick, Camille Meister (Chase), Samantha Frederick, Samuel Flurry, Erin Flurry, Brennan Lightfoot, Sarah McKeown (Joshua), and Cooper Lightfoot; great-grandson Jesse Meister and five nieces and nephews.

Mr. Flurry enjoyed a life full of love, service and adventure. As a pharmacist, he enjoyed serving and visiting with customers at Flurry's Pharmacy for fifty years. He was a trusted and sought after advisor to friends and family. He often quoted his maternal grandfather, who advised him to do something good for somebody every day. He was an avid and accomplished tennis player and golfer and won many championships in both. He's known for keeping an "official" record that included no losses.

He had a wonderful sense of humor. His adventures included a rim-to-rim hike in the Grand Canyon, running the New Orleans marathon, rafting the Flathead, backpacking and hiking peaks in Wyoming and Idaho. He was proud of his streak of consecutive days at the gym. He counted himself fortunate to share many of his adventures and endeavors with family and longtime friends who were like family including the late Tim Gaar, the late Jim Hanna, Tommy Harrel, Dicky Heard and Billy Thurman.

The family is thankful for the care provided to him and his family by the expert, kind and compassionate staff at Autumn Leaves Nursing and Rehab.

Mr. Flurry has donated his body to the medical school at LSU in Shreveport.

Friends may visit with the family at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield on Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
