Frank Albert Dow, Jr., a pillar of the Winnfield, Louisiana community, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the age of 87.
He entered this world on Thursday, March 11, 1937, in Winnfield, Louisiana, surrounded by the love of his family. Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Willa Dee Dow, his parents, Frank Albert Dow, Sr. and Ruby Slaughter Dow, and his brothers, Joe Michael Dow, James Clinton Dow, and Charles Donell Dow.
Frank's life was a testament to hard work and dedication. He tirelessly provided for his family and extended his helping hand to everyone around him. His professional journey ranged from scrap ironing to operating gravel and lumber trucks, until he found his calling as an electrician at West Frazier, retiring after an impressive 47 years of service. Frank was not just a skilled electrician; he was a self-taught handyman who could tackle any task with precision and finesse.
In his younger years, Frank found solace in the great outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing. After retirement, he cultivated a passion for gardening, boasting the largest mustard green patch in the community. His daughter fondly remembers his steadfast presence, describing him as the rock of her life, offering both strength and tenderness in equal measure. Despite the challenges life presented, Frank's hands remained a symbol of unwavering support and love.
Frank leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Brenda "Sissy" Dow Dubois, and her husband Ronnie. He is also survived by his siblings, Wayne Dow and Jan, Robert Dow and Pat, Francis McDonald and Tony, Juanita Dow, and Vorice George. Frank's memory will be forever cherished by his grandchildren, Melissa Lashley, Justin Dubois, Candice Gauthier, Blake Dubois and Stacy, as well as his great grandchildren, Kimberly Brown, Mason Cormane, Maddie Cormane, Zoey Goss, Gabriel Dubois, Zaita Goss, Stella Dubois, and Eastin Dubois; one great great grandchild, Hadley Derosia; special friends, Gene Hyde, Buddy Leeper, and Wolf, along with a host of other relatives and dear friends.
In celebration of Frank's life, a service will be 1:00 pm Friday, March 22, 2024 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Mickey Parker and Rev. Russell Jones, interment will follow in the Winnfield City Cemetery, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Friday.
Though Frank may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, dear Frank. You will be deeply missed, but your love will live on in our hearts forever. I love you daddy, your daughter Sissy.
