Mr. Felix James "Turkey" Mercer, 71, of Dry Prong, LA, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024, in Alexandria, LA. Felix was born on March 7, 1953, in Winnfield, LA, the son of the late Felix Jerre Mercer and Ernestine Taylor Mercer.
Felix spent his childhood in Natchitoches, LA, where he developed a deep love for nature and adventure. He was an avid outdoorsman who found solace in camping and thrived on the open road during his younger years, with a passion for motorcycle riding. Felix served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the U.S. Air National Guard before retiring to pursue a career in maintenance at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.
A devoted family man, Felix's greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones. Felix was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Delores, his sister Jerre Ann Mercer, and his nephew Trey Beasley.
Felix will be lovingly remembered by his surviving family members, including his daughter Amy Mercer (Troyce); grandchildren Kathlena Mercer (Jack) and Gage Gibbs; sister Betty Jean Beasley; and several nieces. His memory will also be cherished by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
A memorial graveside will be announced at a later time.
