Mr. Eugene "Chick" Leeper, age 96, of Winnfield, Louisiana, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Born on Monday, April 11, 1927, in Calvin, Louisiana, Chick was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Emma Harville Leeper, and his siblings, Claude Leeper, Amos Leeper, Clarence Leeper, Alon Leeper, Albert Leeper, Herbert Leeper, David Leeper, Jessie Leeper, Beulah, and Vertie.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Verlie Branch Leeper; devoted children, Sharon Waxley (Layne), Kevin Leeper (Trish), Keith Leeper, and Lisa Martinez (Joe); fourteen grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Chick dedicated over 50 years of his life to welding and retired from pipeliner's local 798 in 2000. Following his retirement, he turned to farming and became an active member of the Winn and Natchitoches Parish Farmer's Market. He was an avid white perch fisherman and knew all the best fishing spots on Saline Lake.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Southern Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and again on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 1:00PM until time of services.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Southern Funeral Home, with Rev. Joe Martinez, III and Rev. Mike Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Sanders Chapel Cemetery, in Calvin.

Grant Carpenter, Michael Martinez, Michael Leeper, Heath Leeper, Chris Leeper, and Joe Martinez, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
