Mrs. Emily Grace Welch, age 85, passed from this life on Friday, April 28, 2023. She was born September 27, 1937 to the union of Mr. Crayton Joseph and Mrs. Mattie Estelle Hunter Gentry in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She married the love of her life Mr. John Henry Welch on January 7, 1956, and were residents of St. Maurice, Louisiana.
Mrs. Emily was a caring, loving, stern, hard working woman. She was known for her extraordinary work ethic, there was nothing she could not fix. You may drive up for a visit and find her on the roof, under the house, or framing a new room. She spent her life caring for many loved ones over the years in their time of need. She always went out of her way to care for loved ones in numerous ways.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Crayton and Mattie Estelle Hunter Gentry; her brothers, Tommy, Crayton "Junior", and Danny Gentry; her sisters Dorothy Cameron, Margie Foster, Alice Welch, and Connie Desadier.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, John Henry Welch; daughter, Rhonda Malone (Steve); son Ricky Welch, all of Montgomery, Louisiana; grandchildren, Summer (Chris), Sheena, Stephen (Ryan), Alexis, Skylar (Emily); great-grandchildren, Dailen, Tatum, Slade and Dawsyn; her sisters, Billie Jones (James), Doris Hines (Jerry), and Vickie Ribando (Michael), and brother, Ronnie Gentry (Marie).

The family will receive friends at Crews New Salem Church on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 4PM until 8PM; and again on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 9AM until 11AM.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday at the church with Rev. Chuck LaCroix officiating. Interment will follow in St. Maurice Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Homes, Winnfield.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Stephen Malone, Skylar Welch, Chris Guidry, Jeffery Hines, John Michael Hines, and Chris Comer.
