Jan 18, 1935 — Jan 6, 2024
WINNFIELD
Elsie Marie DeWolf Allen, age 88, of Winnfield, LA, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, January 6th, 2024, in Winnfield. Born to the union of Lilburn and Juliette Dewolf in Iowa, Louisiana.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband D.C. Allen Jr., and son Jonathan Allen.
Those left to miss her and love her dearly are daughter Barbie Grantadams (Herman) of Winnfield, Grandchildren Ryan Porter (Nicole) of Anna, Texas, Kiah Porter (Holly) of Gueydan, Louisiana, Valerie Jordan (Brent) of Winnfield, Jenna Davis (Mike) of Winnfield, Chad Allen (Kelly) of West Monroe. Step-Grandchildren Brock Grantadams (Amy), Kylie Mercer (Andy), Taylor Grantadams, and Tanner Grantadams. Great Grandchildren Caleb Aulds, Layne Porter, Gavyn Porter, Jake Norsworthy, Judson Jordan, Adrienne Jordan, Mandilyn Allen, Brayden Allen, and Parker Allen. Her siblings Floyd DeWolf (Carolyn), Aline Landry (Don), and Allen DeWolf.
Elsie was a graduate of Lacassine High School class of 1953. She was a starter on the state championship basketball team that year. She attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, where she met her only husband D.C. Allen Jr. Married in 1955, her husband was tragically killed in a car accident in 1971, leaving her at the age of 36 to raise their two children a 15 year old son and 8 year old daughter by herself. Elsie taught at Winn Academy then held many secretarial positions. She ended her working career working for Dr. Bill Gaddis. Finally her greatest blessing was to help contribute to raising her four grandchildren. Elsie enjoyed cooking for everyone, taking care of her birds, squirrels and dogs. She loved more than anything, the opportunity of being more like a second mom to Ryan, Kiah, Valerie and Jenna. Affectionately known as Moo Moo to her grandchildren, great grand children and all of their friends.
