Eleanor "Nell" Waters Dean, affectionately known as Nellie, age 94, of Walker, Louisiana, and formerly of Baton Rouge and Ferriday, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at The Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge.

A native of Winn Parish and a graduate of Winnfield High School, Nellie retired from Lum Brothers Stockyards, Inc., after more than 30 years of dedicated service.

She is survived by her two sons, Thomas A. Dean Jr. and Timothy R. Dean and wife Elaine; niece, Priscilla Ann Waters Traczewitz; and nephews, John H. Waters Jr. and wife Kathy, and James R. "Jim" Waters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John L. Waters and Merle Hudson Waters; and her brother, John H. Waters Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Services will be conducted by Rev. Gordon Atwell, her pastor at Faith Family Church. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Jim Waters, Craig Waters, Ryan Traczewitz, John H. "John-John" Waters III, Chris Waters, Bryce Waters.
