Mr. Douglas B. Prescott, age 71, of Dodson, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Douglas was born on Wednesday, April 15, 1953, in Texas City, Texas, and spent his life dedicated to the service and protection of others.
Douglas served in law enforcement for 45 years, holding positions at the Winn Parish Sheriff's Office and the NSU Police Department. In addition to his career, he was a certified rescue diver, always ready to assist those in need. Outside of work, Douglas found joy in hunting trips with his dear friend Jack Ingram, hosting family gatherings, and spending time around the grill and crawfish pot with friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Eleanor Grice Prescott, his sisters Annette Cook, Ada Jean Nesmith, and Elaine Riley, and his son Terry Hatten.
Douglas leaves behind a loving family, including his wife of 34 years, Barbara Prescott; his sons, David Prescott (Kim), Michael Prescott (Christy), Charles Hatten (Meredith), Michael Hatten, and Matthew Prescott; his twin brother, Dennis Prescott (Molly); and his special daughter, Kaitlin Hatten. He was also the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A public visitation will be held at Southern Funeral Home on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the same location, officiated by Rev. Bill Collins. Mr. Douglas B. Prescott will be laid to rest at Sikes Cemetery.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Harrell, Jamey Maxwell, Jon Caliste, Chance Guilliams, Patrick Korn, Colby "Ole what's his name" Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Hatten, Greg Davies, Bob Miller, Lawrence Desadier and the entire law enforcement community.
