Mr. Douglas Allen Fletcher, age 73 of Montgomery, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

Born Sunday, June 26, 1949 in Alexandria, Louisiana, he was a graduate of Montgomery High School and Northwestern State University. He enjoyed a successful career as a Lead Fluid Engineer for 40 years with Dresser Industries. Doug was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Montgomery and an avid LSU fan. He enjoyed hunting and most importantly spending time with his family. Doug loved with all his heart. He never met a stranger, had a generous and warm spirit and was never afraid to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Douglas' family would like to specifically thank Theresa Gaines, Delores Lebaron, Destanie Mixon, Donna Leone and Cathy Flowers for honoring his wishes of remaining home the last few weeks. These ladies have become lasting members of our close knit family.

Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by his biological parents, Daniel Fletcher and Dorothy Shelton Hensley, Sr.; maternal grandparents, James Rufus & Mary Ann Davis Shelton, Sr.; aunts and uncles, George Shelton (Zelmer), James Rufus Shelton II (Margie), Lorrene Morill (Charles), Gerald Shelton (Lauren & Doris), Richard Shelton, Harold Shelton (Trudy), Francis Shelton.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Laura Kaye Fletcher; parents, Carol Wayne & Glynn Marie Shelton; sisters, Sheila Shelton Jackson (Stan), Sharon Shelton Leone (Kirk), Sarah Shelton Lange (Mike); nieces and nephews, Samantha, Ben, Jackson, Kirk Jr., Micheal, Lainy, Leslie and constant companion Lily.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Verda Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Peacock officiating. Interment will follow in Union Grove Cemetery, in Montgomery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Stan Jackson, Kirk Leone, Sr., Kirk Leone, Jr., Micheal Leone, Mike Lange, David Shelton, Cade Fletcher, Ben Lemoine, Jackson Lemoine, Brent Jackson, Aiden Jackson.
