Dewey Andrew Walker, 95, of Jena, Louisiana made his journey home on Thursday, November 16, 2023.
Dewey was born in the Walkerville Community to the union of Monroe and Ellen Brown Walker. He was an owner of Walker Bait Farm in Manifest, Louisiana, and farmed minnows for many years alongside his brother and best friend, Grady Walker.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Amy Lacroix Walker; four sisters, Oretha Coon, Neva Francis, Cleta Kowalski, and Era Mae Walker; five brothers, Tilford Walker, Gove Walker, Grady Walker, Shelby Walker, and Linus Walker.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sisters, Norma "Sis" Deville and Jessie Alexander and husband, Jackie of Jena; a daughter, Janet Walker Ewing of Jena; a son, Chris Walker and wife, Mandi of Jena; four grandkids, Summer Tullier and husband Treg of Prairieville, LA; Melody Ewing and husband Andy Chediak of New York, NY; Abby Walker and fiancé Michael Peacock of Palm Bay, FL; and Olivia Walker of Jena, LA; two great grandsons Brody and Eli Tullier; as well as many other beloved family and friends.
Dewey was a long-time, faithful member of Shady Grove United Pentecostal Church in the Sharptown Community.
Friends will be received on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Shady Grove United Pentecostal Church from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and Sunday November 19, 2023, from 9:00am until the time of service.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at 11:00am at Shady Grove United Pentecostal Church with Reverend Pat Phillips, Pastor Curtis Thornton, and Brother Jackie Alexander officiating. Following the service, Dewey will be laid to rest in Belah Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Will Walker, Jimmy Boyd, Clint Walker, Mark Creed, Marcus Francis, and Casen Willis.
Honorary Pallbearers are Elmer Boyd, Jackie Alexander, Blondie Francis, Lester Francis, Dennis Deville, Stanley Malcomb, and Sonny Davis.
The family would like to share a special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice and Linda Rector for their support over the past month.
