Dewana Lynn Hinton Hubbard passed from this life unexpectedly on June 28, 2024. She passed at home after a lengthy illness and hospital stay. She was born in Galveston, Texas on May 3, 1957 to the union of Bennie Murl and Marjorie Lee McKay Hinton. She married her best friend and the love of her life, James Byron Hubbard, on April 23, 1976. Through many ups and downs, they walked through their lives together as one. They traveled, lived, and loved together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, David M. Hinton, and Dennis D. Hinton.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are her husband, Byron; her daughter, Melinda L. Hubbard; and her sister, Dena Hinton Young, all of Winnfield, Louisiana.; her sister-in-law Candace Gray (Robert) of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Lowell Hubbard (Debra) of Winnfield, Louisiana; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Dewana was a homemaker who worked tirelessly for her family and her friends. She was a pillar of her faith and she lived and believed in her relationship with Jesus every day of her life. To know her, was to know that Jesus and her family were her defining attributes.

She worked all of her life in the church. She and Byron spent many years working in several churches helping build the work of the Lord in this area and anywhere else they were needed, mostly behind the scenes.

She was a church secretary, treasurer, choir director, Sunday School teacher, church mother, and faithful friend. Her legacy will never be forgotten. Heaven gained a beautiful soul and singer in the choir.

The family will recieve friends at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of  funeral home with Rev. Mickey Parker, Rev. H.W. Smith, and Rev. Joel Hines officiating. Interment will follow in Beech Creek Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Homes, Winnfield.

Those honored to serve the family as pallbearers are Terry Young, Logan Hinton, Tyrel Hinton, Lathan Hubbard, Albert Goodwin, Jerry Hubbard, Brent Hubbard, and Mark Green. Honorary pallbearers are Lowell Hubbard, Ronnie Coates, and James Coates.
