Debra J.
Hanson
Dec 20, 1956 — Jun 12, 2025
Winnfield
Debra J. Hanson, age 68, of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 20, 1956, in Winnfield, the daughter of the late Walter Lynn James and Geneva Ayres James.
A woman of steadfast faith and gentle spirit, Debra lived a life of service, love, and devotion. For ten years, she worked for the United States Postal Service, where her dedication, warm smile, and kind heart touched the lives of many in her community. Her greatest joy, however, was found in serving the Lord, especially through music. As a gifted pianist, she faithfully played for her church, blessing others with her talents and joyful spirit.
Debra found beauty and solace in the outdoors, particularly in her garden, where she cultivated not only flowers but peace and fulfillment. Yet nothing compared to the joy she found in her role as "Nan Nan." Her grandchildren—Jaleigh, Brody, and Barrett—were the light of her life, and she poured her love into every moment shared with them.
To her family, Debra was the heart and soul of their lives. She was fiercely devoted, endlessly kind, and known for the love she expressed through the meals she prepared—especially her beloved chocolate pies, which were a staple at every family gathering.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 38 years, Troy Hanson; her daughter, Ragen Martin (Brad); her step-son, Ty Hanson; grandchildren, Jaleigh, Brody, and Barrett Martin; her sister, Cathy Gray (Terry); her brothers, Tony James (Linda), and Lynn James (Lisa); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Justin James.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Quinton Gray, Zachary James, Brent James, Marty Weeks, Stacey James, Jody James, and Lance James. Honorary pallbearers include Brody Martin, Barrett Martin, Lynn James, and Tony James.
