In Loving Memory of Danny Ferguson “Danny Boy”

December 10, 1953 – October 11, 2026

Danny Albert “Danny Boy” Ferguson, of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on October 11, 2026, at the age of 72. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His life was marked by hard work, a love for his family, an unforgettable sense of humor, and a heart that, beneath his rough exterior, held more love than words could ever express.

Born on December 10, 1953, to Opal and Albert Ferguson, Danny spent his working years in the oil field and as a truck driver before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, loved animals, and treasured the time he spent with the people closest to him. He was the kind of man who never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He always had a story to tell, a smart-aleck remark ready, or a joke that would leave everyone laughing. His quick wit and unmistakable personality made him one of a kind, and his smile and sense of humor remained with him even in his final days.

Danny may have been rough around the edges, but those who knew him best understood the softness of his heart. He loved deeply, cared fiercely, and showed his love in his own unique way. Family meant everything to him. He believed that no matter how much a family might disagree or how many times they might fuss and fight, family was family, and when it mattered most, you showed up for one another. That was a lesson he lived by and one he leaves behind for his family to carry forward. His faith in God was also an important part of his life, and he encouraged those he loved to hold on to their faith through every season of life.

For Danny, some of life’s greatest treasures were the simplest ones: a fishing pole in his hand, time spent with family, a good story, and the sound of laughter filling a room. He had a way of turning ordinary moments into memories that would be talked about for years to come. His stories will be retold, his jokes will be remembered, and his laughter will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him. Though his chair may now sit empty, the love and memories he leaves behind will never fade.

Danny was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ann Green.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Pat Ferguson; his children, Chad Ferguson and Cherrie Ferguson; his grandchildren, Chelsea Zimmermann, Kelsey Ferguson, Brandon Dement,Jewel Ferguson, Lacy Nugent; his great-grandchildren, Rayah Lofton, James (LJ) Zimmermann, Jacelynn Zimmermann, Olivia Younger, Ryan Younger, Rayden Dement, and Jaxon Felix; brothers, David and George Ferguson; and numerous extended family members and dear friends who were blessed to know and love him.

Though saying goodbye leaves an emptiness that can never truly be filled, Danny’s life will continue to be celebrated through the family he loved, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the countless memories that will be treasured forever. The people he loved will carry a piece of him in their hearts, finding comfort in the stories they share and the reminders of him that life brings along the way.

Danny was more than the years he lived or the work he did. He was a husband, a father, a Pawpaw, brother, and a friend whose presence made life a little louder, a little funnier, and a whole lot more memorable. He was deeply loved, and his absence will be felt in ways words cannot begin to describe. But the love he gave and the legacy he leaves behind will live on for generations.

His time here may have ended, but his stories, his laughter, and his love will live on forever.
