Mr. Crosby Butler age 97 of Many, La, formerly of Enterprise, LA. passed away on September 19, 2024 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Tomball, Texas.

Mr. Butler was born to Will and Annie Butler on September 27, 1926 in Jonesboro, Louisiana. He was the second youngest of 6 brothers (Brice Butler, Clayton Butler, Jack Butler, J. W. Butler, Dwight Butler, and Thomas Allen Butler) and 7 sisters (Lily Brister, Elvie Southern, Nora Robinson, Sadie Howell, Ada Howell, Willie Matthews, and Jesse Brown).

Mr. Butler grew up during the height of the Great Depression, helping his father and brothers work the family farm in Jonesboro, La. He very often recounted how severe it would get working in the Louisiana heat plowing the land, picking the cotton, and stripping the sugar cane. Once he came of age, he left his home and traveled to the state of Washington where he met his wife, Dorothy Iris Reed. They married on December 13th, 1947 and had their first child, Gary, the following year. In 1949, Mr. Butler and his family left Washington and moved down to Catahoula Parish, and it was there where Mr. Butler and his wife had two more children, Jerry and Judy. It was also where he dedicated the next 32 years working for the Louisiana Department of Transportation. He is remembered as an exceptionally noble man who was a living example of how to exercise Christ-like kindness, patience, contentment, and humility.

Mr. Butler was preceded in death by both his parents, all 13 of his siblings, and his wife of 66 years.

Survivors include his three children Gary Lee Butler of Many, Louisiana, Jerry William Butler of Lampoon, Tx., and Judy Kaye Harrison of Tomball, Texas; seven grandchildren, Christy Ponder, Angela Butler, Brian Butler, Christopher Butler, Jessica Butler, Tabitha Creel, and Andrew Butler; 17 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 24th, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Alexander Martinez officiating. Interment will follow in the Springhill Cemetery near Wyatt, La. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.

Pallbearers will be Chris Butler, Andrew Butler, Brian Butler, Alexander Martinez, James Butler, and Cole Boudreaux.
