Clarence Leon Walker, a pillar of his community and a devoted family man, went to his heavenly home, on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the age of 90 in West Monroe, Louisiana. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and love that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Born on April 16, 1933, in Fields, Louisiana, Clarence was the son of Rev. John Wesley Walker and Artie Hyatt Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sisters Pauline Weir, Nevaline Addy, Ruth Wheat, and Illene Walker, along with great-grandchildren Adrein Silk, Graycen Silk, and Jake Davison.

Clarence was a faithful member of the Nantachie United Pentecostal Church, where his faith was a guiding light throughout his life. He dedicated many years of service to his church community, leaving an indelible mark on those he worshipped alongside.

Clarence earned a college degree in physics from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in 1962.   He was a self-made man who owned and operated various businesses in his community.   Also, he was a petroleum engineer until his retirement at age 77.

Clarence's greatest joy in life came from his family. He was a loving husband to his wife of 67 years, Barbara Stroud Walker, and a devoted father to his children Gayla, John (Paula), Renee' (Lonnie), and Jason (Veronica). His legacy extends to his seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, each of whom he adored.

In addition to his immediate family, Clarence is survived by his sister Maxine Johnson, and a host of relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Nantachie United Pentecostal Church, with Reverends Nathanael Young and Nathan Dupree officiating. Interment will follow at Hargis Baptist Church Cemetery in Montgomery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m.

Clarence will be laid to rest by pallbearers Davis Silk, Jeremy Silk, Lance Silk, John Wesley Walker II, Dana Ducote, Clancy Walker, and Victoria Walker.   Honorary pallbearers are Lonnie Silk, Thomas Chelette, Graylen Evans and Art Shelton.

Clarence Leon Walker will be remembered not only for his unwavering faith and dedication to his family but also for his kindness, generosity, and the lasting impact he made on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
