With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Claira Ashley, age 4, of Dodson, Louisiana, who entered into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Born on February 9, 2021, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Claira brought light, laughter, and love into the lives of all who knew her. Though her time on earth was far too brief, she filled her days—and the hearts of her family—with immeasurable joy.

Affectionately known as Claira Bell and Toot, Claira was a fearless and bright little girl with a brilliant smile and a contagious spirit. She adored her mommy and daddy and found endless delight in being with her big sisters, Camryn and Mattie. Her bond with her Grandpa George was especially tender. Claira loved all things Cocomelon, trips to the beach, and riding high on Daddy's shoulders, where the world always seemed a little more magical.

She was incredibly smart for her age and carried herself with a boldness and curiosity that captivated everyone around her. To know Claira was to be touched by something pure and beautiful.

She is survived by her loving parents, Natasha Plunkett Ashley and Gary Ashley of Dodson; her treasured sisters, Camryn and Mattie Ashley; maternal grandparents, Jimmy Plunkett (Kristine) and Connie Pharris; paternal grandparents, George and Jerri Ashley; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.

Claira was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Mark Pharris; maternal great-grandparents, Ernest and Barbara Ann Welch, and Cedric Plunkett and Margaret Ponder; paternal great-grandparents, Barney and Irine Ashley and Shirley Stroud and Thomas Wise; and her cousin, Amanda Ritter.

Funeral services to honor Claira's precious life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, with Rev. Deric Cox and Rev. Kenny Bratton officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home prior to the service, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Transport Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Gary Ashley, George Ashley, Jimmy Plunkett, and James Plunkett.

Though we cannot understand why such a bright light was taken so soon, we trust in the One who holds all things in His hands. Claira's laughter will echo in the memories of those who loved her, and her soul will forever dance in Heaven's light.
