Marti "Cherie" Bass Wilson, age 65, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 6, 2021. The visitation for friends and family will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 10, at Urania Pentecostal Church, 15930 Hwy 165 in Urania, Louisiana. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 11 at 1:00 P.M. Cherie's brother, Pastor Kenneth Bass, will lead the service. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday beginning at noon. Interment will follow the service at Urania Cemetery.
Cherie Bass Wilson was born on March 23, 1956, to the union of Richard "Bud" & Georgia Lee Knight Bass of Olla, Louisiana. Cherie graduated from Lasalle High School in 1974. She married the love of her life, Darrel Ray Wilson, on December 18, 2004. Cherie loved God, and despite every storm she faced, she remained strong in her faith and always saw the good in others. Cherie was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend to all she met. Her most prized possession in life was her family. She was a demonstration of God's love and had the special ability of making others feel special. We will miss her sweet smile, contagious laughter, kind soul, and the constant encouragement and support. The legacy of her nurturing and loving spirit will be remembered and cherished.
She is survived by her husband, Darrel Ray Wilson; son Devon Lemarr Whiddon (Tori); daughter, Heather Whiddon Attaway; Darrel's children: Benjamin Lee Wilson (Stacey), Kimberly Rhea Skinner (Ron), Michelle Wilson-Day (John), Lisa Renea Valentine (Donnie), and Sarah Elizabeth Ford (James); 19 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her dear sister, Carolyn Cornwell. Her treasured siblings left to cherish her memory are Susie Tate, Richard Bass (Janice), Leland Bass, Wayland Bass (Mickey), and Kenneth Bass (Nelda) along with her dear nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Wilson, Jackson Day, William Skinner, Casey Valentine, Beau Skinner, Spencer Valentine, and Justin Smith. Lando Bass and Jamie Wallace will serve as honorary pallbearers.
