Charles "Bud" Roy Slay, Sr., age 85 of Jonesville, Louisiana passed from this life on Monday, March 20, 2023.

He was born to the union of his parents Walter Roscoe Slay and Madge Lillian (Perkins) Slay on Monday, June 7, 1937, in Jena, Louisiana.

Mr. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his son Charles Roy Slay, Jr., a sister Lillian Russell, two (2) nephews Kenneth Russell, and Timothy Russell, and one niece Laura Ann Russell.

Those left to love and miss him are his wife of 61 years Eva Jane (Mott) Slay, a daughter Patricia (Slay) Looney & husband Jason, of Pineville, LA, two (2) granddaughters April Looney, of Lafayette, LA, and Destiny Wells, of Colfax, LA, two (2) grandsons James Looney, of Pineville, LA, and Scotty Looney, of Pineville, LA, three (3) great grandchildren and their "Bonus children" Alayna Rougeau, Taylor Adkins, Justyn Brown, Mandi Tarver and Neil Gharana.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Jonesville Church of God, from 11:00 AM until time of services.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Jonesville Church of God with Bro. Tim Crooks, Bro. Brad Crooks, and Bro. Pervon Paul officiating. Mr. Charles will be laid to rest following the service in Garden of Memories, next to the Church under the directions of Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home of Jena.

Those honored to serve her daddy, his father-in-law and their grandfather as pallbearers are Patricia Looney, Jason Looney, James Looney, Scott Looney, April Looney, and Destiny Wells.

Honorary pallbearers are David Smith and Brent Sharp.

The family would like to express how Thankful they are to all of you for the love, prayers, food, cards, phone calls and a special THANK YOU to St. Joseph Hospice and their "Bonus Children" Alayna Rougeau, Taylor Adkins, Justyn Brown, Mandi Tarver and Neil Gharana.
