Charles Sidney Amyx, Sr. 80, of Jena, Louisiana passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 13, 2024. He was born Thursday, February 10, 1944, in Alexandria, Louisiana.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jena, Louisiana.

Sidney was president of both Amyx Sand & Gravel Company and Amyx Ready Mix Concrete both of Jena.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Viva Murphey Amyx, brother Quinton Amyx and sister Rosemary Amyx Thebiay.

Sidney is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rita Kendrick Amyx, son Sid Amyx, Jr. & wife Missy, of Jena, daughter Lori Amyx Stevenson & husband Chad, of Jena, a granddaughter Adrien Veloz & husband Art, two grandsons Dewey Amyx & wife Erin, and Cameron Normand, two great granddaughters Everly Jo Amyx, and Blair Evangeline Amyx.

Those honored to serve Sidney and his family as pallbearers are Dewey Amyx, Cameron Normand, Art Veloz, Bo Hudnall, Bo McCartney, and Steve Norris. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Wayne McGuffee, Judge Jim Peters, Tommy Barton, Donald Amyx, and Ray Amyx.

Visitation will be held at Kinner & Stevens on Monday, July 15, 2024, from 10:00am -11:30am.

There will be a private family graveside service following visitation with Rev. Dominick DiCarlo officiating.
