On December 4, 2024, Mrs. Catherine Ann Box Griffin met her Savior and Lord.  Her last breath on earth was her first breath in Heaven. Catherine was born on April 9, 1931, to the late Jim and Lela Box.  She was married for 68 years to the late Reverend Glen Griffin.  Together they faithfully tended to the ministry God had appointed to their lives for over 40 years.
The treasures she leaves behind are a tremendous legacy of loving others well.  Catherine was a Godly woman who loved the Lord and her family deeply.  She loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus, with all her heart.  His Word was the Lamp for her feet. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of living life at its best through serving the Kingdom of God.
Though she was a gentle woman, Catherine was nonetheless a powerful prayer warrior, and only Heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family, her friends and the world at large.  Her faithfulness will have an impact on generations to come after her, on people she never met in this life but will see in Glory because of her continual intercessory prayers.
She was a humble lady that came from humble beginnings, but no one lived a fuller, richer life through being a genuine servant to others.  Her accumulation of riches was the joy she gained from helping and caring for others. Catherine had a gift for making all those around her feel important and loved. She was known all around for her supreme cooking and gardening expertise.  If you ever had the privilege to experience either, you received a glorious blessing, but just knowing Catherine was the greatest blessing of all.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 5-8 at Southern Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be on December 6th at 10:00 am at Bethlehem Baptist Church with graveside to immediately follow.  Bro. Dick DeBusk, Bro. Shane Duke, and Dr. Jerry Pipes will be presiding over the services.
She is also preceded in death by her siblings Letha Wolverton, Opal Chandler, J.W. "Buck" Box, Jr, and Kenneth Box.  Those left to cherish her memory are: Son, David Griffin and wife June, Son, Rickey Griffin and wife Janie, Daughter, Liz Jordan and husband Paul. Sister, Margie Weeks. The Family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Autumn Leaves Nursing Home, Dr. Eric Dupree, Dan Dupree and Melissa Black with Hand and Hand Hospice.  We are eternally grateful for all you have done for our family during this time.
