Carolyn M. Harlan, aged 79, of Tannehill, LA, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Winn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Winnfield, LA.

Born on Monday, October 9, 1944, in Verda, LA, Mrs. Harlan was the beloved daughter of the late Leonard Hugh McManus and Delta Lee Brown McManus. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brothers Hershal Ray McManus, Ronald Dale McManus, Leonard Hugh McManus, Jr., and sister Alice Austin, and brothers Robert Thomason, Donald Eric Thomason, and Caldean Thomason.

Mrs. Harlan was united in marriage with her loving husband, Waylan L. Harlan, on December 21, 1962, sharing 61 years, 3 months, and 4 days of cherished companionship.

She was a devoted member of the Winn Parish School System, where she served for 20 years until her retirement in May 2000. Mrs. Harlan found joy in singing hymns in church, nurturing her flower gardens, and pursuing her passion for sewing and embroidering.

Mrs. Harlan is survived by her beloved husband, Waylan L. Harlan; sons Jeff Harlan (Linda) and James Harlan (Deborah); daughter Shannon Harlan; grandchildren Jonathan (Becky), Jacqueline (Tye), Brianna (Rhett), and Lauren (Blake); great-grandchildren Ellie, Collin, Thomas, Savannah, and Emily; and brothers, J.C. Thomason (Darlene), and Marlon Thomason.


Public visitation will be held at Southern Funeral Home on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from noon to 2:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at Southern Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Norris Curry. Interment will follow at Mars Hill Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Danny McManus, Jonathan Harlan, Randy Harlan, Tye Shephard, Rhett Sthram, and Carl Young. Honorary pallbearers include Blake Cogle, Wayne Harlan, Woody Bilyeu, Doug Booth, and Terry Taylor.
