Carol Jean Brewton Brooks passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, at the age of 86.

She was born on September 16, 1938, in Bastrop, Louisiana, to Quinn Brewton and Mozelle Anderson, both of whom preceded her in death. Carol grew up in Winnfield alongside her older brother, Thomas (Tom) Brewton, who also preceded her in passing. She graduated from Winnfield High School in 1956.

Carol pursued her passion for beauty and design through studies at Stephens College in Missouri, Louisiana State University, and Northwestern State University of Louisiana, where she majored in Interior Design. Her sense of style and creativity remained a constant throughout her life. She was also a member of Pi Beta Phi.

On April 1, 1961, she married the love of her life, Donald Glynn Brooks, Sr., of Winnfield. They shared many wonderful years together before his passing.

Carol is survived by her four children: Donald Brooks, Jr., Stephen Brooks, Scott Brooks, and Laura Brooks-Weissinger. She also leaves behind two beloved grandchildren, Parker Brooks and Mason Brooks, and one cherished great-grandchild, Ledger Brooks.

Throughout her life, Carol was dedicated not only to her family but also to her community. In the 1960s, she was active with the Heart Fund and later became involved in the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic women's organization, during the 1980s and 1990s.

Carol spent her early years in Winnfield and most of her adult life in Many and Natchitoches, Louisiana, with a few meaningful years spent in Georgia. She had a lifelong passion for interior design and decoration, and her home was a warm reflection of her refined taste. She loved history, solving puzzles, playing solitaire, and traveling—especially through the western United States, which captured her spirit of curiosity and adventure.

She was loved by many and was an adopted mother to some of her kids' friends.

Her grace, creativity, and steadfast love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
