Brenda G. Wise, age 63, of Sikes, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 10, 2025, in Jonesboro, Louisiana. She was born on Wednesday, November 1, 1961, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to the late Albert Dale Slayter and Annie Mae Bartley Slayter.

A member of Hurricane Grove Baptist Church, Brenda lived a life defined by quiet strength, deep compassion, and an unwavering love for her family. She was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant and dedicated much of her career to serving others through home healthcare. She attended Dry Prong High School and later Louisiana Tech University.

Brenda will be fondly remembered for her warm and welcoming spirit, especially in the kitchen where she was known for her signature dishes—fluffy buttermilk biscuits, comforting chicken and dumplings, and her beloved lemon pie. An avid reader, she found joy in the pages of books, in the laughter of her grandchildren, and in helping those around her. Family was her greatest treasure, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Terry Wise of Sikes; daughters, Tanya Hemphill (Quinn), Stephanie Desadier (Marcus), and Emma Wise; son, Christopher Wise (Amber); grandchildren, Shelby, Jessica, Jerri, Nathan, Kelsey, Christian, Khloe and Haylen; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Dale Slayter and Annie Mae Bartley Slayter.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Hurricane Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Author Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Hurricane Grove Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

Serving as pallbearers are Adam Corbitt, Danny Slayter, Curt Ingles, Brandon Slayter, Mark Smiley, and Cody Hammonds. Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Hatten and Christian Wise.
