Bobby Glenn
Erskins
Sep 20, 1942 — Apr 17, 2024
Dodson
Bobby Glenn Erskins, beloved husband, father, grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield, Louisiana. He was born on September 20, 1942, to his parents Waymon C. Erskins and Lee Bell Parker Erskins.
Bob was a graduate of Sikes High School, obtained his bachelors degree from Louisiana Tech and later earned his masters in education from NSU. He worked in education for years from his first position in Houma, LA to teaching at Atlanta High School. Bob decided he wanted to leave the classroom so he started his own logging business. Bob enjoyed the woods and his fourteen years in logging. He went back to education for two years at Calvin High School but had the opportunity to begin working with LA Loggers Self-Insured Fund. Bob loved his years being their safety engineer, visiting job sites and seeing people he considered friends, his fellow loggers. He retired in 2013.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, and "Papaw Bob". He was a hard worker and always took time for his family. He loved his grandchildren dearly and never missed the opportunity to tell them how proud he was of them. He leaves behind a legacy of love for God and family. A lifelong member of Hart Assembly of God Church, he taught adult Sunday School and served as deacon for many years. His faith carried him through any challenge he faced.
Bob never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. Those who knew him will never forget his smile and laughter. His family has several "Bob-isms" that will be remembered fondly. A couple are "Mind over matter-if you don't mind it don't matter" and "If we don't leave, we can't come back".
A devoted husband of 55 years to his beloved wife, Annette Culver Erskins, Bobby was a pillar of strength and support to his children, Harry David Baldridge (Laura), Karen Gardner (Steven), and Kristan Green, and his cherished grandchildren, Callie (Ryan), Clayton, Mackenzie, Nicholas, and Brendan. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Erskins; and sister, Shelby Tinnerello.
Visitation to honor Bobby's life will be held at Southern Funeral Home on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating Bobby's life will take place at Hart Assembly of God on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with Reverends Danny Green, Kevin Womack, and David Porter officiating. Following the service, Bob will be laid to rest at Hart Cemetery.
Those honored to serve the family as pallbearers are Craig Vines, Donnie McDaniel, Lane Womack, Eric Keesler, Jimmy Parker, and Vernon Carpenter. Honorary Pallbearers are Garland Kidd and Wesley Simons.
Memorial donations may be made to Hart Assembly of God and/or Hart Cemetery Fund at 2696 Hwy 126, Sikes LA 71743.
