Betty Sue Worthy Zeagler, age 88 of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, April 30, 2023 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winnfield, LA with Father Frank Fuller officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at Garden of Memories in Winnfield, Louisiana.

Mrs. Zeagler was born September 4, 1934 to Mr. Walter Couvillion Worthy, Sr. and Mrs. Gertrude Estelle Lee Worthy. She grew up in Jackson, Louisiana and graduated from McKowen High School in 1952. She attended Louisiana Tech University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics and a Master of Science degree in Nutrition. While in college, she met James Henry Zeagler from Jena, Louisiana. They were wed on January 27, 1956. The two lived in Louisiana and North Carolina as Mr. Zeagler continued his education.  Mrs. Zeagler was an educator who chose to stay home to raise her four children. Later in life she went back to work at Winnfield Middle School teaching middle school science. After retirement, she taught science at St. Mary's Catholic School in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening, and learning new things.

She was active in St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she served as senior warden. During her life she was involved in the Episcopal Cursillo movement, Lazy Daisy Homemakers, Readers Review Book Club, Tuesday Book Club, Winn Parish Retired Teachers, Winn Parish Cancer Survivors Support Group, Past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Winn Parish Food Pantry, St. Albans Order of the Eastern Star #80, The Jackson Assembly, and past member of the Republican State Central Committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, Jim, her parents, her brother The Reverend Walter C. Worthy, Jr. and wife Pat Worthy, her brother Dr. Sidney V. Worthy, her in-laws Henry and Nadie Ainsworth Zeagler, her sister-in-law Gene Vickers and husband Albert Vickers.

She is survived by her children Dr. Jon Zeagler, his wife Sarah, of Natchitoches, LA; Jeff Zeagler, his wife Staci, of Shreveport, LA; Jennifer Maggio, her husband Chris, of Natchitoches, LA; and Johanna Miller, her husband Mark, of Shreveport, LA, grandchildren Cole Zeagler and fiancé Addison Shelton, Brock Zeagler, Luke Zeagler, Olivia Zeagler, Reed Zeagler, Melanie Maggio, Scott Maggio and fiancé Mary-Katherine Horton, Emily Maggio, Cooper Miller, Avery Miller, her sister-in-law Jan Worthy and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Scott Maggio, Cole Zeagler, Brock Zeagler, Luke Zeagler, Cooper Miller, and Reed Zeagler.
