Betty Anne Maxwell Nugent (Gidget) age 78 of Winnfield was graciously carried away from this earthly life and delivered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 8th 2026 following a brief illness.  Anne was born on September 30th 1947 to Max William Maxwell and Betty Jo Adams Maxwell and was the second of 6 children.

Funeral Services celebrating Anne's life will be held on Sunday May 17th 2026 at 1pm at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield, LA, with Bro Jeff Shows and Bro Ricky Vines officiating.  Her family will receive friends on Saturday May 16th 2026 from 6pm to 8pm at Southern Funeral Home and procession will follow to Garden of Memories Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Ivy Lee Nugent. Serving as pallbearers will be: Buddy King, Casey Blake, Henry Holton, Rogan Townsend, Remy Lee, Ben Smiley, Kendall Hobbs, and David Miller.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved son, Jason Lee Nugent (wife Michelle), cherished Grandchildren Travis Delane Callender (wife Mindy), Ethan Gage Nugent, and one precious great grandson, Lucas James Callender.  Anne is also survived by her brothers Jamey Maxwell (partner, Sandy) and Kim Maxwell. Extended family includes daughter Elizabeth Gess (husband Mark)of Montgomery TX, Glen Nugent (wife Pam) of Metairie LA and granddaughters Kristen, Abi, Madi, Hannah, Jennifer, Emma and grandson Aiden (plus an almost countless number of nieces, nephews, in-laws "some outlaws" and very dear friends.

Anne is welcomed into her Heavenly home by her husband Ivy Lee Nugent, their precious little son Joseph Andrew Nugent, parents Max William Maxwell and Betty Jo Adams Maxwell, sisters Kathy Maxwell and Jan Alsup, and brother Scotty Maxwell.

After retirement from Winnfield Senior High School (as secretary and Mother Hen to most all students) Anne devoted her life to her home, family and church activities.  She was a member of East Winnfield Baptist Church of Joyce, LA and an integral part of the ministry of Grace Class where she served as co-teacher. Her life was a continual testimony of praise as to the amazing grace of God; she showed us all what loving and trusting God looks like in the life of a believer, whether on mountain tops or valleys deep.  She lived with earnest desire and anticipation of finally being made complete in Christ and to hear Him welcome her home with "Well done, thy good and faithful servant". She will be missed but remembered above all as a Godly woman who walked by faith and trusted in the Lord even to her final breath.  'Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come: 'tis Grace that has brought me safe thus far, and Grace will lead me home." And now, SHE IS HOME

The family deeply appreciates every prayer and act of kindness that has been extended to them throughout these past days and asks in lieu of flowers, memorials honoring Anne should be donations to East Winnfield Baptist Children's Church Air Conditioner fund.
