Betty Watley Christman passed from this mortal life and entered her eternal home on October 4, 2022 in Shreveport, LA. Betty was born May 1, 1937 to Willie C. Watley and Ida (nee) Williams Watley in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Betty graduated with her Bachelors and Masters in Education from Northwestern University in Education. She began her teaching career in 1958 in Lake Charles where she taught for 2 years before taking a 16 year hiatus to be a stay at home mom. She returned to teaching as a special education teacher in Winn Parish until her retirement.

She married David Christman on Januay 14, 1961 in Natchitoches, LA. They moved to Winnfield in July 1967 where they raised their four boys. She and her husband were involved in their church and many other associations throughout the years.

She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Willie C "Dub" Watley, Jr and Bill Watley. Daughter - Lois Elizabeth, Grandson - Chase Christman, Grandaughter - Caroline Christman, Daughters-in-law Betty Christman and Tammie Christman.

She leaves behind her husband of 61 years and her four sons and daughters in law: David (Liz), Jonathan (Kelly), Michael (Becky) and Daniel (Bridget). Eleven grandchildren and six great- grandchildren and a host of children who called her Nanny.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 15, 2022 , at The Family Church , from 9:00 AM until time of services.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at The Family Church with Rev. Joel Hines and Rev. H.W. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories, in Winnfield under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Friends may visit with the family at the Family Church in Winnfield on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Christman Jr., Jonathan Christman, Michael Christman, Daniel Christman, Carson Christman and Austin Christman.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
