Barbara Jean Shirley Shelton, born June 28,1940, she was called to her eternal home on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. She was a graduate of Winnfield High School and retired from the Clerk of Court Office in Winnfield, LA.

Barbara had a deep love and devotion for her family and was known to be the kindest, sweetest person you would ever want to meet. She always had a smile on her face and never complained about anything. She loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and tending to her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, David Shelton, her parents Alon and Myrtice Shirley, one brother, A.L. Shirley, one sister, Gayle Stewart, two grandchildren, Brandon Paul Reeves and Vanessa Reeves. Those left to cherish her memory are her two sisters, Jewel Johns and Linda McCarty (WC), mother to two daughters, Tina Shelton Williford, Cindy Shelton Cook. "Mamaw" to four grandchildren, Chad Reeves, Chris Cook (Keri), Adam Cook (Amanda), Rachel Short (Eric). Ten great­grandchildren, Peyton Floyd, Brewer Floyd, Skylar Cook, Dylan Smart, Stormie Cook, Breezleigh Cook, Avery Cook, Hunter Cook, Brock Short, Kolt Short and one on the way. She will be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sister in laws, family and two special friends, Connie Hanson and Dale Howard.

Graveside services will be held at Brown's Cemetery on Sunday October 13, 2024 at 2:00 PM under the direction of Southern Funeral Home, with Rev. Bruce Weatherford officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to Barbara's favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
