Mr. Arthur Ray Waxley, Sr., age 93 of Montgomery, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022.

Born Tuesday, July 24, 1928 in Wheeling, Louisiana, he was a member of Montgomery United Pentecostal Church and was a retired carpenter. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

Mr. Waxley was preceded in death by his parents, John O'Gustus "Gus" Waxley and Dollie Mae Johnson Waxley; siblings, Huey Waxler, Joe Waxley, Mitchell Waxler, Alvin Lea Waxley, Annie Pearl Smith, Gladys Waller, Kathleen Walker, Katy Waxler and Ruby Bazar; great-great grandchildren, Kallie Racine and Jerron Waxley.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 73 years, Mildred Snow Waxley; children, Arthur Waxley, Jr. (Melba), Jerry Waxley, Sr. (Doris), David Waxley (Anita) and Carolyn Waxley Freeman (Clayton); 11 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Montgomery United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Donald Givens and Rev. Lavon Bass officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories of Grant, 786 Coon Trail Rd., Montgomery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until time of services.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Jason Waxley, Delane Freeman, Ben Choate, Jerry Waxley, Jr., Hayden Waxley and Michael Paul Waxley. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Waxley, Jonathan Rhymes, Matthew Arledge and Nicholas Waxley.
