Amanda Christine "Christie" McCandless, 51 of Calvin, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Born Friday, December 3, 1971 in Charleston, South Carolina, Christie was the second of three children to Pete and Mary Anderson. Raised a military brat, the Navy gave her travel opportunities and life experiences she treasured her entire life. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Northwestern State University, and spent many years working in higher education. Christie's sense of humor and creative writing skills were unmatched, and playing pranks on her family, her sister specifically, was easily her favorite pastime.

She was preceded in death by her father, William "Pete" Anderson as well as her brother, Scotty Anderson and sister, Sherri Collins.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are mother, Mary Humphries Anderson; son, Michael Scott Anderson; grandson, Scott Haire; nieces and nephews, Rachel Procell (Brandon), Julia Collins, Ryan Anderson; great Niece, Elynnor Procell.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM on Thursday at Bethlehem Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Ver Hoef officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Calvin, LA.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Bethlehem Cemetery, Calvin, Louisiana. Services are under the direction of Southern Funeral Homes, Winnfield, Louisiana.
