On April 25, 1932, Edgar and Inez (Allen) Coleman, welcomed their first son, Allen Davis Coleman, into this world, and the adventure began. He was raised in Jena, in a small house built by his maternal Grandpa Allen, near the railroad tracks, with one brother and two sisters, several uncles and cousins who helped develop his sense of mischief. After high school where he was an exceptional athlete, Allen attended college and served his country, in the U.S. Army. While Allen worked in a wide variety of fields, including, oil industry, sawmill worker, and later owner/president of the same, he is remembered by most for working at Belden Wire & Cable, and as janitor/maintenance man at Jena Elementary School. He will be remembered for the jingle of keys and the rattle of tools in the back pocket of his Dickie work pants.

Allen is survived by his children, Terri Ayers (Steve) Kathy Vincent, and Allen "Mac" Coleman all of Jena, bonus children, LaVonne (Morace) Baddeaux of Sandy Lake, LA,  A.A. Morace, Jr. (Sherry) of Little Creek, LA, Bruce LaCour (Ann) of Loudon, TN, Sherry Steele (Ronny) of Jena, LA, and Annette Bingham of Westerville, Oh, one brother Jimmy Coleman and his wife Jimmie Ruth of Bossier City, LA, one sister Margaret McCartney and her husband Keith, of Montgomery, Al. To list all of those who lovingly called him, Grampa Allen, PawPaw, Allen PawPaw, and Uncle Allen would be a feat too difficult to accurately complete. He will forever be remembered as a jack-of-all trades, a kind and loving jokester who would do anything and everything for anyone. He was exceptionally skilled in showing those in his tutelage how to complete any task, and if you weren't doing it properly, "his way", he would just show you. He was the prime example of a true gentleman and friend. All of us "ugly" "worthless" "old woman or man" "useless" individuals will greatly miss his "Sweet, Precious, Perfect and Lovely" self, and will hold our fond memories of his acts of both generosity and mischief, often at the same time.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, three wives, Pat McDougald, Faye Beard, and Athalee Neal, one sister Mary Sue Burlew, one brother-in-law H.D Burlew, and one nephew Eddie Burlew, two bonus sons, Jeff Morace, and Andre Morace.

A celebration of life will be held at Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home, on Thursday, June 15, from 4-7pm. At 6pm, we will conclude the Celebration with reading of his eulogy, some of his favorite songs, and a time of sharing memories of him with one another. The family encourages those who can attend to have a story ready to share, if you feel so inclined, we all welcome the memories. Interment will happen at a separate private event.
